I also tried in the past to use busses, without success.
I suggest you to think in terms of nodes and associate to each node
your differents DOFs.
You can have a Beam with 2 nodes A and B at each end.
For node A you define the kinematic and rotational disciplines like
this:
kinematic A_Ux, A_Uy, A_Uz;
rotational A_Rx, A_Ry, A_Rz;
By using this approach, you emulate your bus A with 6 DOFs.
