I second it! My proposal (earlier this year) on sci.engr.semiconductors on
sci.engr.mems drew lukewarm response. The general argument I received was that
MEMS was a fringe topic and that such a newsgroup would serve little purpose.

The recent *glut* of messages on this mailing list leads me to think otherwise.
The discussion could be carried on the newsgroup, while a weekly summary of the
articles could be posted on this mailing list. The benefits of such a newsgroup
are obvious.First, the discussion would *probably* reach a wider audience, for
example, crossposting an article on polyimides to sci.polymers and
sci.engr.mems could draw responses from experts in both fields. Secondly, those
who are not interested in a thread could safely skip it. This would be a much
cleaner way of doing things.

Please e-mail me direct for discussion on the thread. If there is enough
interest I shall try and propose this on sci.engr
