CFP: Fifth ACM/SIGDA Physical Design Workshop
15-17 Apr. 95, Reston Sheraton, Reston, Va.

The ACM/SIGDA Physical Design Workshop provides a relaxed atmosphere for
exchange of ideas and promotes research in critical subareas of physical design
for VLSI systems. Full-length, original unpublished papers on all aspects of
physical design for ASICs, MCMs, and FPGAs are solicited. Both theoretical and
experimental contributions are encouraged. Submission deadline is 15 Dec. 95.

Bay Area MEMS Journal Club
4 Oct. 95, 7:30pm, SEMI , 805 E. Middlefield Rd, Mountain View, Calif.

The Bay Area MEMS Journal Club is an informal forum for professionals with an
interest in the MEMS field. Meetings are held in the evening on the first
Wednesday of each month and typically follow an open-discussion format in which
group participation is encouraged. Topics span from fabrication technologies to
applications of MEMS. For more information please see:

No October SMAWG Meeting

Because of the micromachining workshop (9/27-28), the October meeting has been
cancelled. The topic for November's meeting (Monday 11/6) will be gyroscopes,
although speakers have not yet been determined.

I vote for the bulletin board to stay as it is.

I was going to stay out of this particular flame because I felt confident that
the bulletin board would stay as it was or with a small change. (I consider
sending out the info once a day vs. when received as a minor change) The
message below, however, concerns me. I like to receive the traffic, which I am
more than willing to edit, automatically as opposed to seeking for it on the
web. I find the web very time consuming to use unless I am looking for a
specific item. There are many messages on the bulletin board that I find
uninteresting, but I suspect that those I find interesting are very
uninteresting to others. That is the beauty of a bulletin board.
