Thermal profiles on the cheap

Hi,
We have an application where we would like to determine the steady
state surface temperature profile of a device within the temperature
range 20-350deg C. The spatial resolution should be about 25 microns and
the technique should be non-contact as the thermal mass of the device is
quite small. We have looked at a number of vendors in the thermal
imaging market from FLIR to QFI and have found that these systems are
very expensive, i.e. ~$100 kilobucks. Since we don't necessarily need a
full 2-d image of the device but just a 1-d profile it seems like the
data could be taken by rastering a sort of micro-pyrometer (a single
pixel pyrometer with optics to achieve a 25 micron spot size) over the
sample. Has anyone heard of a such a device? Any suggestions
appreciated...
