I am posting this message to help clarify the on-going discussion regarding the
administration of the Electronic Discusion Group activity for the MEMS
Clearinghouse.

This discussion group is moderated. All incoming messages are checked against
the "Guidelines for Using the ISI MEMS Electronic Discussion Group." This
document is e-mailed to each new subscriber when they join the group. If a
message is found to be unsuitable, the sender is notified by the moderator. As
of 4/95 I started to separately track the approved versus denied messages. The
initial acceptance rate is 83%. The final acceptance rate (a few messages are
revised to bring them in line with the guidelines) is 85%.

The operation of the discussion group is overseen by the MEMS Clearinghouse
Advisory Board. This board makes recommendations to the Clearinghouse's project
