Yes, Au will stick to Pt. At least it has for me when Ti, then Pt, then Au
were evaporated. Same for sputtering.
The Pt must be clean for anything to adhere to it well.
A few microns sounds like a lot to evaporate. There will be some stress, and
the thicker the deposited film is, the more likely it will peel.
