SUMMARY: MEMSCAP [and other MEMS CAD] Experience

At long last, here is a summary of the responses I received to my original
message requesting comments from users of MEMSCAP and other MEMS targeted
CAD/CAE/EDA software packages. I apologize for the delay in preparing this
summary, but I have been out of the office for quite some time, and I also
wanted to obtain the permission of all those responders that I included here
since I didn't clearly state that I would post such a summary in my original
message.

In fact many of those who replied did ask that I NOT include their comments,
as they feared a backlash from the software companies involved. They may
have been correct judging from the worry my posting seemed to have generated
among the sales reps; each one contacted me almost immediately. At least I
now know that someone is reading this distribution list!

Thanks to all courageous enough to have their comments posted. Please
understand that these are only personal opinions from individual users,
intended to further useful discussion of this topic. They speak for
themselves, not their companies/universities. None have used all of the
software packages, and no one is trying to harm any company or product. As
one respondent stated: all of these tools are in their infancy and
relatively hard to use- no one expects any of them to be perfect.
