Dear colleges,
Thanks for all your precious time and endeavor spent in responding my question!
And sorry for put those answers late to the discussion group for I'm now looking
for the resources by myself! If anyone have more suggestions on this topic,
please do not hesitate to write to me. If anyone also interested in this topic
and want to discuss
with me, I'd like very to hear from you.
The following are my question and answers to it.
My question:
I'm now searching resources on the application of MEMS in communication, for
example the MEMS filter in communication. But there seems not so many articles
and papers on this subject. If anyone could give me some advices and hints that
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Answers:
Joel Dubow:
I know of some mems being embedded in communication systems for sensing/control
applications. In fact, that is part of my own research.
Fu Yongqi:
You guy could look for the papers about MOEMS used in optical fibre
communication.
AJ Pang:
As regarding to MEMS with communication, U may find something interesting in
the issue of "mst news" no.1 april 98.
XI-Qing Sun:
I think Prof. Clark Nguyen at Univ. of Michigan is the only one who is
actively involved in MEMS filters and resoators for communications. You
can find his publications in recent years conference proceedings such as
MEMS'98 and 99, Aerospace Conference'98, 1998 Sensor Expo and so forth.
The MEMS filters can find applications in wireless communication systems
like cell phone handsets in replacement of conventional SAW filters. The
MEMS devices basically are advantageous in terms of low insertion loss
and full integration solution. However, MEMS filters must be tunable in
frequencies (this has not yet been revealed yet) before they are
accepted by industries. Otherwise, system calibration will ruin all the
benefits that MEMS filter introduces. In addition, I think, personally,
high-Q MEMS LC tanks or RF/microwave switch and telerelay may be good
approaches in RF-MEMS area, too.

hi , there is an entire edition of IEEE,
JAN1999,TITLED SPECIAL TOPICS IN QUANTUM ELECTRONICS.
ALSO THERE IS THIS TOPIC CALLED SMART DUST, AND CAN BE FOUND AT
http://robotics.eecs.berkeley.edu/~pister/SmartDust/html
Hope that will help.
Ken Clements:
Look into the August 1998 issue of the Proceedings of the IEEE, you will find
many things.
Thanks again for all your help!
