MEMS and insects

Dear MEMS community:
About three years ago a posted a message stating that we just started to
analyze the micromechanics of insects to learn more about friction, adhesion
and lubrication of living microsystems. The goal was to adapt this
evolutionary
formed knowledge to get some help in designing MEMS.

Meanwhile our findings were summarized in a book

Biological Micro- and Nanotribology

I took the liberty and put a sample chapter on my Web page (bottom of page)

You are invited to have a look! Questions and comments are welcome.

  Matt
