David, check out http://www.telic2000.com/. They sell
Chrome mask blanks; several kinds..soda lime glass
plate is the cheapest.(5 bucks a 4x4" plate) You will
have to spin coat photoresist by yourself. But why?
I could make a crude mask by scotch taping a printed
film on the glass plate. To creat pattern I used
coreldraw(academic version cost ~$100.00) and had it
printed out by high resolution printing service
company. (www.d-max.com, north carolina) 5080 dpsi
printer.
Do not use epoxy to glue the film 'cause I heard it
absorbed light in UV range. My patterns were big. ~30
micron, so had no problem, but the edge line was not
greatly sharp as would be expected. Good lick, then.
